I got 18 model 66 most of them begin with 66 in the ss. You are most likely correct in your assumptions as to time frame. Trading, I've only got $200.00 in her which seems like a very good price for what it is. There are no published serial number records for the 66 to be found anywhere. Since my Americana model doesn't bring a premium over boring, old run-of-the-mill Model 37's, I think I'll shoot the old girl, take good care of her and enjoy my life. The 37 started out as a Remington Model 17 - Ithaca waited patiently for 20 years until the patents expired. Interestingly, the Model 37 could well have started out as a Winchester instead of an Ithaca if Winchester hadn't made Browning mad in 1900 over Winchester's refusal to pay Browning a royalty for his revolutionary gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun, all other transactions having been the outright purchase of the patents.
